Citizens from all countries must show their passport on the border; where a visa is required, this must also be presented to the border authorities and must indicate the length of the holder’s stay and his or her destination. Visa applications – specifying the reason for the trip –must be made to the Mexican Consulate in the applicant’s country of residence.
Do I Need a Mexican Visa?
Foreigners from countries with which the Government of Mexico has signed visa suppression agreements will not require a visa. Mexico has the following migratory facilities thanks to which you could be exempt from the visa requirement:
- Be the holder of a valid and current visa of the United States of America.
- Have a document to prove permanent residence in any of the following countries: Canada, United States of America, Schengen countries, Japan or the United Kingdom.

We encourage the participants needing a visa to Mexico to register as soon as possible. It is the participant’s responsibility to contact the embassy or consulate of Mexico in their country.

A Mexican Tourist Visa is required for recreational or health activities, artistic, educational, sports, cultural, etc., when the stay in Mexico does not exceed 180 days. Recreational or health activities are considered as tourism activities; artistic, cultural or sports activities, (unpaid) attendance to congresses, conventions, fairs or exhibitions when the participation is cultural, educational, informative, sports or artistic.
